Robert Waddell is a solicitor of wide experience having started his legal career with the Divorce Registry in London, worked for a legal aid firm in Islington before exploring the lives of barristers by becoming Senior Clerk at a well known family set of chambers in Inner Temple. He returned to qualify as a solicitor at prestigious Bedford Row firm Simmonds Church Rackham before moving to Cornwall in 1988. There he joined Graham & Graham becoming a partner in 1989 and, in 2001, Senior Partner whereupon he steered the firm through Lexcel and Investors in People accreditation, the first firm in St Austell to acquire both. Having undertaken a variety of litigation work over the years including criminal and employment law as well as general civil litigation and acquiring the variety of different skills needed for different situations he has moved to specialising in family law where he started.

In 2006 he undertook eight days training with Resolution to become a family mediator learning a whole new set of skills. These he brings to bear in his work as a family solicitor. He also practises as a Mediator working through Accord Dispute Resolution.

He subscribes to Resolution's Code of Conduct and whilst he will look for consensus in achieving his clients' objectives he can act swiftly and firmly in the core duty of looking after their interests and advancing their cases.

He has been concerned for some time at the high costs private clients have to pay in family matters and believes he has found a way to provide a quality service at a reasonable rate.
